Why can't people be kind!? I'm honestly so upset at what happened today. I don't even know how to start but I guess I will start at the beginning. So yesterday I went to the Restore. I have been looking for a large piece of glass for my DIY brass mirror that I got at the Restore back here. As I was there they had some flooring! Currently the basement kitchen has just stick on blue and white tiles. So I have been looking into some cheap flooring option to lay in the kitchen to just update it. I don't want to break the bank and have been looking at sheet vinyl since its not to expensive and can conform to the uneven floor. So when I was at the Restore they had some sheet vinyl that was the right color and size!!! To make this even better it was 12' x 16' for only $87!!!! $87!!! That means it was only 45 cents a SqFt which is a killer deal and it was high quality. I wanted to take it home right them but the car we were driving yesterday was to small so we put a hold on it and planned to go back today with a trailer to bring it home. You can see the hold tag in the photo above (its the red thing to the left). It was almost closing time so we felt like we would be okay to leave it over night and get it today. Fast foward to today we head back to the Restore with trailer in toe ready to pick up our flooring. As we are driving to the Restore we passed a white pickup that had two rolls of flooring that looked identical to the two dark rolls in the photo below. So as you can guess when we got to the Restore they no longer had either roll of flooring even though I had a hold on one of them that was good for the end of today. My Dad and I headed back home but we just had to drive past the pickup truck again to see if the two rolls really were the ones at the restore the day before. We found the truck but one of the rolls had already been emptied and two men were carring the other roll into their apartment. They looked just like two men we saw yesterday eyeing the flooring after we put a hold on the one. I just wanted my flooring 😢
This isn't the first time I have bought something and then had it taken out from under me later. A couple years back I bought a headboard at a local thrift store. The thrift store holds purchases for 24 hours so the next day I went back to pick it up since I had already bought it. Yes same thing happened, some one pulled the sold tag off it and bought it but there is a happier ending to this story. I found the headboard I had bought at the thrift store on the classified adds in the same city that I lived it. The headboard was very unique so I don't believe that it was a different piece of furniture that just looked the same. It had been painted and was charging 5 times what it was at the thrift store. I called and asked the women where she had gotten it. She wanted to know why I was asking so I told her and she was just silent on the phone. I didn't buy it because it was so much more than what it was at the store. That lady sat on that headboard for months because I would see it whenever I looked on the classified ads. To me that was karma for stealing my headboard. Have you even had something taken from you at a thrift store? Doesn't it just make you so mad? Come back tomorrow to see what I did get from thrift stores. - Addison
